Electrical Engineer

Purpose of the Role

The primary duty of the role is to lead the technical review and operate high-voltage/low-voltage electrical systems and equipment during the project installation and commissioning stages. Some core responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Commissioning of the high-voltage/low-voltage electrical systems and equipment, including HV equipment installation and testing.
  • Provide advisory services in relation to the requirements of the Electrical Safety Act and relevant standards.
  • Advise on electrical safety certification of electrical equipment where required including checking HV equipment installation and test reports.
  • Develop engineering design document of relevant discipline, review equipment and construction technical documents and ensure the outcome meets progress and requirements for procurement and construction.
  • Assist with the preparation of engineering design drawings, instruction and standard documents for construction tenders. Issue, trace and close permit to work

Requirements

We are seeking applications from individuals with significant experience in a similar role, preferably from within the resources industry with a minimum 5 years’ experience in HV/LV electrical equipment installation and commissioning in a commissioning or operations environment.

  • Desirable if you possess knowledge and experience with switchgear, IEC61850, SEL/Siemens protection relays, Rockwell E3+ overloads, Siemens HV Robicon VSDs, Schneider MGE UPS, Hirschmann network equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of design, construction, commissioning HV transmission and distribution systems, HV protection and communication systems and HV/LV control and interlocking systems.
  • Possess a valid electrical trade qualification/electrical certification (WA recognised) and have solid analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Personally, you will have excellent communication skills (oral and written) and highly advanced interpersonal skills. You will need to be a team player and have the ability to work independently.
